I write speculative fiction that works within popular genres but attempts to stretch out in different directions.
My first book, Old Green World, is available now.
I graduated from the University of Texas in 2004 with a Ph.D. in English. My master’s thesis focused on queer writers associated with the West Coast “New Narrative” movement, while my dissertation explored the narrative structures of popular story universes from DC Comics to Star Wars.
I’ve kept a sitting practice for 10 years: that experience and the system of Zen Buddhism are influences on my work.
I started developing software when I was in grad school, and I’m a software developer today. It pays the bills. I live in Austin with my husband Mike, who plays the cello.
